I’m not sure why I haven’t posted this before, but this was my dad’s wedding cake back in June 2014, which I made as a gift to him and his wife. 🙂
It’s definitely got imperfections which I would love to go back in time and fix, but considering I made the whole thing in 14 hours the afternoon/night before the wedding, I think it’s pretty good! The top layer is chocolate cake with a raspberry filling. The middle is traditional vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. And the bottom is a lemon pound cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Fondant all around the outside, with little fondant bubbles around the edges.
Happy Monday, and Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

This past week I had a lot of fun baking something different for a lovely bride named Lindsey and her now husband Jamie. Lindsey was a fun bride to work with because she wanted a dessert bar full of her grandma’s recipes instead of a traditional multi-tier cake. She did want a little cake to cut as “the” cake, of course – a necessity for traditional weddings! Check it out below! Oh and Lindsey made the pink peanut brittle in front of “the” cake – thought I should point out her handiwork. 🙂
Front view of the buffet before I moved all of my stuff out from behind the table!
Angled view of the buffet!
Refrigerator cookies, or sugar cookies with pecans in them 🙂
Carrot cake cupcakes!
Carrot cake – “the” cake!
Buttermilk pie with meringue!
Butter rum cake with a clear rum glaze!
I started baking on Monday after work and finished it all – including getting the display items – by 1pm on Friday. Just in time for my 1pm departure and 2pm set up! Did it all while still doing my day job and training for a half marathon, too! 😉
Enjoy the pictures, and give me a ring if your mouth starts watering for some tasty baked goods. 🙂

Given recent political events in Indiana, it’s worth noting that we here at Mama Rakle’s Bakery do not discriminate based on sexual orientation, race, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or really anything else.
Your personal business is not for me to worry about or pass judgement on. Your health, safety, and enjoyment when eating my cakes is all I care about.

Avtar and the Photon Elephant Team are at SXSW this week and I made so many cupcakes for them! Here’s a small sampling of what they look like:
They’re chocolate cupcakes with a buttercream icing and a chocolate disk on top with a blue sugar eye and a white chocolate elephant.

This past weekend I had the privilege of baking my first [paid] wedding cake for a wonderful bride named Molly and her sweet husband Kevin! There are a couple places I would like to go back in time and fix, but overall I’m extremely happy with the results! Let me know what you think in the comments section. 🙂

My boyfriend and his team launched their Kickstarter campaign tonight. Please consider going to check it out at. I backed it for the sweet sweet t-shirt option:)

Long time, no post! This weekend was my best friend’s birthday party. He had a Double Quinceañera because he was turning 30, and I got to make him a cake resembling his favorite princess: Princess Peach!
I ran short on time, but the original plan was to cut her hair to be like Peach’s as well. Regardless, she was a hit, and another friend told me she was pregnant and was only able to eat the cake (everything else made her stomach upset), which was a very nice compliment. Yay for cake!
