My name is Rachel, and Rakle is a nickname from high school that just kinda stuck. To pronounce it, just turn that CH from Rachel into a hard K sound and the rest of the sounds are the same. Huzzah!
Where does the Mama part come from if I have no kids, you ask? Well I’ve always been someone’s mother in some way, shape, or form. I was my brother’s second mother growing up, I’m always the motherly figure in any group of friends of which I am a part, and my natural instinct toward people is to take care of them in whatever way I am capable.
I believe almost any emotional trouble can be solved with a good cake, cookie, or other confectionery delight. 🙂
Enough of that!
Last week I started taking the Wilton decorating classes. I can bake a mean cake, but I have never really learned how to decorate them. I can do some basic piping and whole cake icing, so this class is about using fondant and gum paste. We’re essentially working with edible Play-Doh and making some pretty neat, albeit basic, creations, and I am loving it all. It’s relaxing, even when my gum paste/fondant mixture is overworked and over oiled and is falling apart into crumbs when I try to roll it out.
Pictures soon to come of what we’ve made in classes 1 and 2 so far!
That’s a sufficient introductory post. More later. Adieu!
